The Pedal-with-Pete Foundation raises money and provides grants for cerebral palsy research largely by coordinating charity bike rides and walks. Currently, these events occur in Kent, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; and Emmetsburg, Iowa. Through the success of these events, and the support of the community, grants of approximately $50,000 a year are given towards cerebral palsy research.
The Foundation grants the money raised to one or more researchers every year, and it’s research that is truly making a difference for people with cerebral palsy (CP). There are 800,000 with CP in the US alone. Since the Foundation is completely run by volunteers and works hard to keep costs down through generous donations of supplies from the community, 85% of every dollar raised goes straight to cerebral palsy research.
Pete Zeidner, PwP founder, lives in Kent, Ohio, and he has cerebral palsy. CP is a neurological condition usually developed during the birth process, when the brain is damaged by a lack of oxygen.  Its affects can range from a small hand tremor to someone who is completely bed-bound.  In spite of a fairly serious case of CP, Pete has ridden a recumbent bicycle great distances, raising money for CP research. The perseverance of Pete and many others with CP inspire us. Contact us if you’re interested in learning more, would like to volunteer or donate supplies for the events, or to make a monetary donation for cerebral palsy research.
